 Johannesburg is situated in South Africa’s smallest but most economically powerful province, Gauteng. It is the country’s financial capital. Called the City of Gold in reference to its extensive gold and platinum mining operations, the city also has many natural attractions including the Cradle of Humankind and it is also the gateway to many of South Africa’s safari lodges. South Africa’s largest township, Soweto, is just a stone’s throw away for cultural enthusiasts. As a bonus we've included Pretoria and the Pilansberg nature reserve.
